Huge jobs site included on £10b investment prospectus

A HUGE development site on the edge of Stratford-on-Avon district and where 2,300 jobs have been promised has been included on a prospectus offering up to £10billion of opportunities to invest in the West Midlands.

The Investment Prospectus has been produced by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to showcase 20 of the region's transformational schemes, one of which being the Redditch Gateway scheme.

The 78-acre site that is being marketed for headquarters-style manufacturing and distribution buildings is partly inside the western boundary of Stratford district, off the A4023 and A435.

A company called Redditch Gateway Infrastructure Ltd has been set up by Birmingham-based property firm Stoford Developments to lead the development.

The site is so large it falls into three local authority areas, Stratford, Redditch and Bromsgrove, all of which have now approved an identical planning application.

The prospectus was launched last week at the MIPIM property show in France by Mayor for the West Midlands, Andy Street.

He said all of the schemes included would breathe new life into local communities across the region.

“This prospectus shows how we are creating fresh opportunities in the former industrial communities of the West Midlands, turning brownfield sites into new homes, schools, offices and factories," Mr Street said.

“But we want this growth to benefit everyone and for this Prospectus to provide the things that really matter to people like good homes, jobs and access to skills and learning.

“We are inviting the world today to come and join us in making that happen.”

Other projects in the prospectus are the redevelopment of Birmingham International train station, the HS2 Interchange near Solihull, a commercial, retail, leisure and hotel development in the heart of Birmingham city centre known as Birmingham Paradise, and the Friargate site of prime office space, hotels, homes, shops, restaurants and public space on land next to Coventry train station.
