Hotel pack ready to run in the wild
STAFF from two Stratford-upon-Avon hotels are preparing to slip, slide and slog their way through 10km of mud, open water and obstacles in support of the NSPCC.
A group of 20 runners from Stratford Manor and The Stratford — both part of the four star hotel group, QHotels — are aiming to raise £2,000 for the children’s charity by taking on the fabled Wolf Run.
The Wolf Run’s Autumn Wolf race returns to Warwickshire’s Welsh Road Farm near Leamington Spa on the weekend of 3rd and 4th September.
In the next three years QHotels are pledging to raise over £300,000 for the NSPCC, with each general manager and hotel setting their own fundraising challenges.
Chris Steadman, cluster general manager of Stratford Manor and The Stratford, said: “The NSPCC presentation we were given at a management meeting was very emotional. It showed how reliant some children are on the services. As a father to a young daughter, it had quite an impact on me.”
Chris and the Stratford team will be attempting to better the times of two other QHotels from the Midlands.
And while insisting there would only be 'friendly rivalry' between the groups, Chris has moved to gain an early advantage by enlisting the help of a personal trainer, Colin Whitehead.
