Golf day chips in!
RAIN failed to dampen the spirits of 22 teams from local companies who took part in Stratford-upon-Avon Rotary’s 27th Annual Charity Golf Day.
The event, held at Stratford Golf Club earlier this month, raised £6,000 for the Shakespeare Hospice.
For the second year running, the team from jewellers George Pragnell scooped the first prize with 121 points, meaning they retain the Lime Garages Cup they won last year.
It was a close match, as in joint second place was JPM Plumbing and Peter Clarke and Co, both with 119 points, followed closely by Shakespeare Martineau with 118 points and Upstream Confectionary with 117 points.
After a day on the course, players enjoyed a three-course dinner in the evening at which an auction of champagne and wines was held, along with a raffle with prizes donated by local companies.
Among the sponsors were car company KIA, Morrisons and Costa Coffee.
Andrew Wolfe, Rotarian at Stratford Rotary, said: “This event is always well supported and we are so grateful to the players, who are such good sports, and our generous sponsors.
“Despite a few showers throughout the day, high spirits and great sportsmanship prevailed. We are delighted to have raised a significant amount for the Shakespeare Hospice.”
The date has already been set for next year’s golf day. It will take place on Tuesday, 15th May. To enter e-mail robevansk9@hotmail.com
