EXCLUSIVE: Tesco drop plans to open new store in Stratford
However a lack of activity at the unit over a number of months prompted speculation that all might not be well with the plan and today Tesco confirmed that they would no longer be opening a store at the site.
A spokesperson from Tesco said: “We are sad to confirm that we no longer plan to open a convenience store in Stratford upon Avon. We are now working with the landlord on an alternative future for the site.”
Tesco would not elaborate on the reasons for pulling out of the plan but conceded that the company has had to make difficult decisions this year regarding investing in new stores.
The Stratford store had been expected to create 20 jobs.
