Driving forward with hotel plans at Warwickshire’s British Motor Museum
THIS is how a new hotel being planned on the site of the British Motor Museum at Gaydon could look.
The three-storey hotel, which will be a Marriott with 142 bedrooms, is said to take design inspiration from both the museum’s rounded building as well as the motor industry – the hotel would be adjacent to Jaguar LandRover’s HQ at Gaydon.
The hotel scheme was given outline planning permission by Stratford District Council in 2022; the latest planning application is to agree the design and other details of the project.
The work, if granted permission, will include the demolition of the museum’s former reception building and would be the first phase – the original planning permission allows for the building of a hotel with 240 rooms.
The planning documents explain: ‘The proposals have been designed so as to allow the balance (98) of the approved rooms to be delivered under a future development phase.”
The hotel’s design has been created by Weedon Architects.
