GREAT ALNE-based Purity Brewing Company has retained the title of Midlands Sustainable Manufacturer of the Year.

It was once again recognised for ‘green ethos’ at Insider’s Made in the Midlands Awards.

Judges said: “Purity won the judge over with not so much a sustainable strategy but an entire green ethos. Its huge range of investments and policies included a wetland system to naturally clean and filter water; a steam capture system to cut energy usages and series of CO2 reduction schemes.”

Purity will now defend the national award, which it also holds, in Liverpool next month.

The company produces the likes of UBU, Mad Goose, Pure Gold, Lawless Lager and Longhorn IPA from its base at Upper Spernal Farm. It celebrated its tenth year in business last year.

Managing Director, Paul Halsey, said: “To win this award two years in a row, with a national honour to boot, makes us all very proud. “It is real testament to everything we do at the brewery to keep improving on our sustainability measures whilst always maintaining the quality of our beers.”
