Olympic medallist to host Sports Awards ceremony

Steve Parry will host the Stratford-on-Avon District Sports Awards in January.


OLYMPIC medallist Steve Parry will be the host of the Stratford-on-Avon District Sports Awards.
The Liverpool swimmer took bronze in the 200 metres butterfly event at the 2004 Athens Games, winning Britain’s first Olympic swimming medal in eight years.
Nominations for the ten categories to celebrate the successes of the districts sporting heroes and the invaluable contributions from coaches and volunteers will close next Monday, December 3rd.
The awards ceremony, which is organised by Stratford-on-Avon District Council and supported by Everyone Active, will be held on Friday, 18th January 2019 at the Stratford Playhouse.
Nominations can be made in the following ten categories:
Junior Sports Person
Senior Sports Person
Junior Para-Sports Person
Senior Para-Sports Person
Junior Team
Senior Team
Coach or PE Teacher
Media Correspondent
Service to Sport
Nominations can be made via the Sports Awards page of the Stratford council website.
Parry, who has Commonwealth and European medals, is an ambassador for Everyone Active’s Sporting Champions scheme.
The scheme was launched in 2016, with the aim of providing ongoing support for talented athletes across the UK. Through its work with local authorities across the country, Everyone Active has supported more than 500 athletes with more than £1million worth of sponsorship over the past four years.
