A STRATFORD business has officially received the prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise within the Innovation category making it one of only four companies to receive this top accolade in the West Midlands.
Green Sheep Group (GSG), a UK-based nursery company in Snitterfield, near Stratford-upon-Avon, celebrated the Queen’s Award with staff and special guests, Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Tim Cox, Her Majesty’s formal representative in the county, and Stratford MP Nadhim Zahawi, who is also Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families.
During a special presentation at GSG’s headquarters last Friday, there were smiles all round as the Lord-Lieutenant was joined by Green Sheep Group chief executive Roger Allen, Mr Zahawi, key personnel and the GSG team.
“This is such an accolade for Green Sheep Group to win. There were only 230 Queen’s Award winners nationally and four only in the West Midlands, it is with great pleasure that I say many congratulations to all of you,” Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Tim Cox said.
Mr Zahawi then added his congratulations to the Green Sheep Group award winning team when he said: “It really is a great honour and something, very, very special. The Queen’s Award will enhance everything you do and is to be seen as a stamp of quality and service. In addition with my children’s and families role we can all take pride in the baby and nursery products you manufacturer. You truly are a success story because four years ago the turnover was £800,000 and now you’re looking at £8 million. I am delighted that your selling to the world has made you part of the backbone of UK PLC.”
Roger Allen, Green Sheep Group chief executive, said: “The whole company was absolutely delighted to receive the news. It is testimony to the hard work and upbeat culture in every department that we have received such an incredible honour. The presentation evening will be a great way for us to celebrate our recent success and acknowledge each and every one of our employees that put in hard work on a daily basis.”
