Ahoy musical raises money for cancer charity


A BEREAVED father has raised almost £10,000 in memory of his daughter.

Eddie Howell, 82, from Evesham has taken on a skydive, abseiling and now a concert after his daughter Cherry Seekins, 56 died from cancer.

This Sunday the musical concert he is promoting comes to Evesham Arts Centre. Entitled Ahoy, it is a musical based upon the raising of the Mary Rose and is being performed by The Hanley Voices, Prince Henry’s High School, The De Montfort High School and a group from the Cheltenham Youth Choir.

Ahoy will raise funds in his daughter’s memory for Cancer Research UK and St Richards Hospice.

Mr Howell explained: “I was in a bit of a bad place when Cherry died and St Richard’s Hospice really helped me.”

The concert takes place at Evesham Arts Centre on Sunday, 24th June at 3pm. Tickets are £11 and £8 children under 12, available online from Evesham Arts Centre or the Almonry Centre 01386446944.
