THE largest English Civil War re-enactment in the area for more than 20 years, was presented by the Sealed Knot, last month.

The living history site at Home Farm, in Compton Verney, hosted the event on 23rd and 24th September.

Hosted by the Philip Skippons Regiment of Foote, it was the largest re-enactment of its kind in Warwick in the last 25 years.

A lot of the costumes and equipment researched are made by the members themselves, including armour made by Kineton blacksmith Adam Blockley.

Adam, pipe commander of the Sealed Knot, said: “The event was a huge success with nearly 3,000 attending the event over the weekend.

“We usually hold the event at Kineton Sports and Social Club, in October, but we moved it forward a month. The event held at the weekend was a lot larger.”

Although plans for next year’s event haven’t yet began, a private memorial service to mark the Battle of Edgehill will be held on Sunday 22nd October.
