WARWICKSHIRE bowlers Debbie Bloxham, Margaret Boldy and Karen Rice helped the county end the season with a victory in the traditional finale against the President’s Club.
The match brings a friendly but competitive end to the summer and this year Warwickshire defeated Lillington Ladies, the home of president Chris Ward, 151-75.
Rice, from Shipston club Entaco, helped her rink with Joy Cooke (Blossomfield), Ann Doherty (Lillington) and Brenda Carlton (Three Spires) to win 21-14. They set off determinedly and were 14-2 up at eight ends, before the home team fought back in the second half of the game.
Boldy, from Wellesbourne, joined Pat Moore (Three Spires), Helen Harris (Stoke) and Gloria Higgins (RLS) to win 20-13. They started well and were 12-1 up at nine ends and eased home.
Bloxham, from Stratford, with Pat Bax (Rugby Thornfield), Janet Pooler and Kathryn Harris (both Stoke), were also stronger in the first half than the second but got home to win 22-18.
There were also wins for the rinks of Rosemarie Geden (Southam) with June Austin (Three Spires), Carol Norton (Stoke) and Donna Kerr (RLS) who won 33-10, plus Maureen Edwards (Rugby Thornfield) with Velisa Brown (Southam), Pat Cooper (RLS) and Jean Hagues (Rugby Ladies) with a 28-10 success.
