Former police officer to face sex offence charges

A FORMER police officer is set to appear in court later this month after being charged with 18 non-recent sex offences.

Timothy Lively, of Old School Mead, Bidford-upon-Avon, was charged by summons yesterday, Thursday, with one count of rape, one count of buggery, 15 counts of indecent assault and one count of indecency with a child.
The charges relate to offences which are reported to have been carried out by Mr. Lively in the 1970s and 1980s in Stratford-upon-Avon and involve allegations made by males and females.
Mr Lively, a former police officer for Warwickshire Police, serving in the 1970s and 80s, will appear at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 27th September.
Back in November the Herald revealed that a major police investigation was underway into alleged allegations of sexual abuse at a children’s care home in Stratford during the 1970s and 1980s.
Police have not confirmed the name of the children’s home, but according to Herald sources it was on Drayton Avenue and is believed to have closed in the 1980s.
