FORMER Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov, from Lapworth, was the guest of honour at Henley School’s award evening last Thursday, 24th November.

Headteacher, Steve Jefferies, said: “Our guest of honour shared the inspirational story of how he battled leukaemia and returned to playing.”

He added: “It was a great evening of celebrating the successes and achievements of our good and rapidly-improving school. As a cohort, last year’s year 11 pupils, many of whom were at the evening, made the best progress from their Key Stage 2 starting points ever recorded in the school.

“We are very proud of them, of course, and it was lovely to share that pride with their parents and friends of the school.”
