The two Evesham Sunday League teams had originally penciled in a friendly fixture and then Martin Proctor, a United player and work colleague of John’s, and his wife, United manager Jackie, decided the match could have an even better cause.
“FISSC have given us the pitch for free and there will be other fundraising activities after the game at the Yard of Ale pub,” said Martin. “We want to raise as much money for Bloodwise as we can in tribute to John.”
The post-match events will include a band, a raffle and other games.
Bloodwise was formerly known as Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
