RELEGATION BATTLE LOOMS FOR PANTHERS
Stratford 201 all out Bromsgrove 203-6
STRATFORD Upon Avon are gearing up for a relegation battle after they slipped into the bottom three in the Birmingham & District Premier League Division 1 table following a four-wicket defeat at home to Bromsgrove on Saturday.
Paul Best’s side suffered their fifth reverse of a disappointing campaign after another batting collapse contributed to their downfall. The Panthers edged their way to an all out total of 201 in the 55th over, but they were grateful for a last-wicket partnership of 45 between Wigsy Troughton (26 not out) and stand-in wicketkeeper Adam Joseph, who was last out for a stubborn 13. It was only the fourth time that they have reached the 200-mark this season.
Earlier, former Shipston all-rounder Matt Corby looked in good form, making a season’s best 61. The beefy No.3 played in a positive manner, looking to attack any bowling that was remotely loose before holing out immediately after a drinks’ break.
