Burt Bacharach has signed a deal to pen his memoirs, it has been announced.

Publisher HarperCollins has said the Grammy-award winning artist's book will be called Anyone Who Had a Heart, named after the song Bacharach and lyricist Hal David wrote for Dionne Warwick.

The 83-year-old is to open up about his success and personal life, as well as the bitter breakup of his partnership with David.

Over a career spanning five decades, Bacharach has amassed numerous hits, including I Say a Little Prayer, What the World Needs Now, Walk On By and Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head.

His songs have been covered by many famous artists, from Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin to Alicia Keys and the cast of Glee.

Ms Franklin recently announced her engagement to long-term friend Willie Wilkerson.
