SMOKERS who have managed to quit or are struggling with quitting are being offered prizes by Warwickshire County Council.
The council want both current smokers and ex-smokers to get in touch with them in order to help others in the county kick the habit.
They have called the campaign the rather contrived name, “the eX-Smoker Factor challenge”.
One in five adults in Warwickshire smoke, and so to tackle this, the council have set up a platform for people to share their stories about quitting with each other.
They’re offering anyone who gets in touch a range of prizes, including family tickets at National Trust attractions, memberships to health clubs, football tickets, a round of golf, and tickets to Warwick Castle.
Cllr Bob Stevens, Portfolio Holder for Health at the council, said: “It is important that we do everything we can to encourage people to give up smoking. If you can share any of the experience you have had whilst giving up smoking this will inspire others to take the plunge and give up as well.”
To enter the competition, email your experiences to firstname.lastname@example.org or set up your own blog on an external site and email the link.
You can also video your thoughts on YouTube and send the link to the council.
Tweet them using the hashtag #exsmokerfactor or post a video on the Public Health Warwickshire Facebook page.
The prizes are:
• 2 x family tickets for Upton House (National Trust)
• 1 family ticket for Charlecote Park (National Trust)
• A family voucher for Ash End House Children’s Farm
