LOVE is in the air for Stratford-upon-Avon’s Nathan Clifford who recently proposed to his American girlfriend, Coreen Moon, at the top of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Viewing Tower and she said “yes!”
Nathan, aged 25, is pictured below on bended knee in the viewing tower, 32 metres above Stratford, asking Coreen to marry him.
And to make sure their intimate moment remained a treasured memory forever, Nathan secretly booked the viewing gallery for 15 minutes so the couple could be well and truly alone.
Moments after Nathan slipped the engagement ring on Coreen’s finger his mum, Tracey, and sister, Gemma, took photos and gave the couple loads of happy hugs to celebrate their good news.
His choice of the viewing tower was inspired by the couple’s visit to the theatre the day before to see Wendy and Peter Pan, currently showing at the main house.
But if it hadn’t been for Nathan’s dancing skills, which took centre stage at a hotel bar in Las Vegas, last year, the pair might never have met!
“I was on holiday in Vegas with some mates and so was Coreen," he told the Herald.
"I thought my dancing was pretty good but obviously she thought it wasn’t and started to giggle and joke with me about my dancing technique, so we got chatting and couldn’t stop, it was love at first sight.
"We agreed to meet up again in New York in September and then I invited her to my hometown and decided to pop the question when Coreen got here."
Head over heels, the engaged couple with their head in the clouds and over the moon about their happy news came back to earth following their big moment in the RST viewing tower and made their way to a nearby pub to celebrate with family and friends.
The irony of Nathan’s decision to choose the tower for the best views of Stratford will not have been lost on Coreen who hails from the American city of Seattle, home of the world famous Seattle Space Needle which measures 185 metres high.
Apart from looking ahead to a June wedding next year, Nathan was asked what other plans the couple had in mind? “I think I probably need some dancing lessons from Coreen before we get married!”
