A 55-YEAR-OLD man was airlifted to hospital after falling ill at a building site in Wellesbourne today.
The man was delivering items to the building site when he started complaining of chest pains.
West Midlands Ambulance Service requested the attendance of Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) so that the patient could be rapidly transferred to the nearest specialist cardiac unit.
The air ambulance was alerted shortly before 8.20am and landed at the building site at approximately 8.30am.
On assessment by the crew, the patient was confirmed to be suffering a heart attack.
He was sedated by the WNAA doctor before being flown to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for specialist treatment to unblock his arteries.
The patient was transferred over to the hospital shortly after 9am.
