A FILM crew invaded Welford-on-Avon today to shoot scenes for Nativity 3: Dude, Where’s My Donkey?
Dozens of people were brought into the small south Warwickshire village to film outside the Grade I listed village church, St Peter’s.
According to eyewitnesses, Martin Clunes was among the actors.
Rector of St Peter’s, the Rev Tirsh Grigor, confirmed that film company Mirrorball Films had asked to use the church.
“They initially wanted to use the inside of the church, but today decided to just film outside,” she said.
The film crew parked their vans in the car park of The Four Alls, and used the church’s meeting rooms on Church Lane to teach the child actors.
“They had two teachers, because apparently the children have to have three hours of normal education,” explained Rev Grigor.
Mirrorball Films were shooting a third Nativity film after the commercial success of 2009’s Nativity! starring Martin Freeman and Ashley Jensen, and 2012’s Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger, starring David Tennant and Joanna Page.
It is due to be released Christmas 2014.
