CLIFFORD Lane on the outskirts of Stratford-upon-Avon has been closed because of a gas leak.
Gas workers put an emergency road closure in place around midday yesterday (Monday), when a leak was found in the middle of the road.
The road is closed for a few hundred yards near the Waitrose roundabout and diversion routes are in place.
A National Grid spokesperson said this morning that workers hope to have the problem fixed by rush-hour tonight.
She said: “We were working throughout the night and we should be able to reopen the road mid to late afternoon today.”
Nobody’s gas supply has been affected by the leak.
Two diversion routes, one for HGVs and one for other traffic, can be found on www.warwickshire.gov.uk/roadsandtravel
