A SIX-year-old from Stratford-upon-Avon has fallen in love with fishing - hook, line and sinker - after catching a sizeable carp on his first ever trip.
When Kevin Costigan and his son Harry went fishing for the first time last week, neither of them expected to catch much.
But the Shottery St Andrew’s C.E. pupil pulled out the carp and with it, a big grin spread across his face.
Dad Kevin, who is Chairman of Shottery Rugby Club, said: “He was over the moon, and I think he’s got a bit of a bug now.
“He stuck his rod in the water and that was the first thing he came out with. It was the first time he’d been and the first time I’d been.”
After that catch at Arden Fisheries last week, the pair have been back a few more times, and although they’ve not replicated the catch of the first day they have caught “bits and pieces”.
Harry’s still enjoying it though, and dad Kevin said: “It was just a nice father and son family moment. While the weather’s nice we’ll keep going back.”
