The office has issued an amber warning for snow, predicting 5-10cm for Warwickshire, and perhaps as much as 20-40cm over high ground.

"Taking into account the strong to gale force winds, some atrocious conditions with drifting and blizzards are expected for many upland areas in particular," read the warning.

Sleet is forecast overnight on Thursday and heavy rain is forecast for Friday.
