The team were joined by Fabrice to talk to fans in the club’s corporate boxes about the campaign, in particular the importance of public-access AEDs (automated external defibrillators) in communities. They raised £650 in the process.
An AED was handed over to Blackburn Rovers by Fabrice Muamba in front of the crowd at half time on behalf of the campaign, and the club’s big screens and advertising hoardings beamed details of Hearts & Goals throughout the match.
Trudie Lobban MBE, Arrhythmia Alliance Founder and CEO, said: “This was a fantastic event to raise awareness of our Hearts & Goals campaign, which continues to go from strength to strength. It was great to see so many people take the campaign to heart at the game and Fabrice’s support continues to help us to promote the lifesaving potential of defibrillators (AEDs) in communities. His case is a perfect example of just how important these lifesaving devices are and it has been wonderful to see people join Hearts & Goals in increasing numbers to fundraise for an AED.
“We know these devices save lives and with public-access AEDs in all communities we could prevent many of the 100,000 deaths from sudden cardiac arrest in the UK every year.”
