THE STRATFORD-upon-Avon branch of HMV is not one of the 66 stores earmarked for closure, the music retailer announced today.
HMV are closing 66 of their 220 UK stores over the next two months, and although Stratford’s is safe for now, the Leamington Spa branch is one of those closing down.
After the music company entered administration in January, 190 people have lost there jobs in HMV’s head office and distribution network.
And it’s estimated around 930 staff are employed in the 66 stores being closed down.
There have been talks with Hilco, the company which owns HMV Canada, about a possible takeover.
The stores due to close down are:
