Search for Warwick Castle eagle called off

THE EAGLE that went missing from Warwick Castle is being left to fend in the wild after handlers decided to call off the search.

Stan, the 10-year-old sea eagle who has a wingspan over 6ft, flew off during a show at the castle in September.

He was spotted several times in the area over the next few weeks, feeding on rabbits. However, after many attempts to recapture him proved fruitless, the falconers have now decided to give up the search.

He had been at the castle for more than eight years.

Stan the sea eagle was named after his country of origin, Kazakhstan.
