A WMAS spokesman said: “The driver, a man in his 60s had a serious head injury as well as pelvic, chest and leg injuries. He was also trapped in his car. He was freed from the vehicle, a pelvic splint was applied. Advanced emergency trauma care was given by the doctor who was on board the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and he was flown to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

“The car’s front seat passenger, a man in his thirties, had managed to get out of the vehicle prior to the arrival of ambulance crews. He had pains to his ribs and an arm. He was taken by land ambulance to the Alexandra Hospital.”
