THE controversial five-screen cinema proposed for Stratford-upon-Avon's Town Square is being supported by district council planning officers in papers released today.
In a report submitted to Stratford-on-Avon District Council's west area planning committee—which will make a decision on the plans on 8th February—the officers say that the benefits marginally outweigh the adverse impacts.
Although admitting to finding "the degree of harm and the potential benefits to be finely balanced," they recommend that planning permission be granted.
Seventy-three letters of objection, including ones from the residents' association Stratford Voice and the Stratford Society, have been received by the council along with a petition signed by 72 people.
Three letters of support have been received, including one from the business group, Stratford Vision.
