“He is a lovely horse and very friendly and has become a favourite with the children who come to visit him,” said Kaeren Revell, the sanctuary’s visitor manager.
The team of experts at Redwings had to teach him that touch could be pleasurable and that being in the company of humans could be fun. A great deal of desensitisation was conducted all over his body until Rumpel realised that having a nice groom and a good scratch was actually good fun, but Redwings staff say that the only problem now is that he wants to reciprocate the favour back to humans!
Rumpel has joined four other adoption stars at the sanctuary, including a retired police horse called Will and a graceful donkey called Felicity.
And the good news is that he is now up for adoption and staff believe he would make a very good friend for a number of horse-lovers.
He can be adopted for £12.50 a year, with every penny going towards the food, bedding and necessary healthcare needed for him and his friends—who are also up for adoption. In doing so they get to not only have a friend for life but are sent photos and information about their chosen horse, pony or donkey and also get invited to birthday party parades. You can adopt online at www. redwings.co.uk or by calling 01508 481000.
