The event features a rehearsed reading of W S Gilbert's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. The Shakespeare Institute Players are joined by actors of the RSC's past and present to raise funds for a friend in need. Those committed to appearing (subject to availability) include Edward Bennett, Matt Costain, Claire Price, Katy Stephens, Hannah Young and former Eastenders star Nicholas Bailey…with others to be announced.

Master of Ceremonies will be Professor Michael Dobson, Director of the Shakespeare Institute.

The programme also includes the "Dog Hamlet", King Lear's happy ending, excerpts from Peter Flannery's 1989 RSC play Singer and a raffle for prizes that includes Hamlet's Pooch, a bottle of vintage champagne and Daniel Rosenthal's newly-published The National Theatre Story.

Tickets (£10) are available at the door or by e-mail gilbertbenefit@icloud.com
