STRATFORD Town’s depressing December continued on Boxing Day with a 1-0 home defeat against local rivals Evesham United at the DCS Stadium.
It was their fourth consecutive defeat, which enabled Evesham to move above them in the Calor Southern League Division One South & West league table.
After a goalless first-half in front of a crowd of 290, the Robins struck the decisive blow on 73 minutes when Carl Brown scored what proved to be the winning goal for the visitors.
Town manager Carl Adams said: “It’s a sad story. We’ve lost our last four games and each time by a one-goal margin. That’s how tight it is in this league and it’s a very fine line between winning and losing.
“It was really a game of two halves as we controlled the first-half, but we lost our way after the break and allowed Evesham to boss the possession.
“We are where we are, and we’ve just got to keep at it and work harder as that’s what you have to do at this level.”
With the festive games coming thick and fast, Town now face two testing away games starting with North Leigh on Saturday before travelling to Cinderford Town on New Year’s Day.
