Spate of vehicle break-ins continues Sims not shutting down but 15 people set to lose jobs Spanky the parrot does a flier Costa crash: ex-JP charged with dangerous driving Town go west in new league

Title race set to continue

STRATFORD Town return to action on Saturday when they welcome Boldmere St Michaels to the DCS Stadium in a 3pm kick-off.

The Baker-Joiner Midland Alliance leaders have suffered four successive postponements but still lead the league table by 16 points. Saturday’s trip to Tividale was the latest weather casualty when all MFA games were called off. That game has been rearranged for next Tuesday 5th February.

Second-placed Stourport Swifts match at Westfields last Tuesday night along with Gornal Athletic’s home game against Alvechurch was also postponed.

Gornal’s league fixture backlog is set to increase this weekend when they will try for the third time to play their FA Carlsberg Vase 4th Round Proper home tie against Wisbech Town. The Black Country side have played just 17 league games, seven less than Town.

With Stratford’s 3G pitch now clear of snow the first team squad were back in training on Tuesday night with another session planned for tonight (Thursday) ahead of the Boldmere game. Ironically, the Mikes were Town’s last opponents back on 5th January in a game which saw a 5-3 victory for the league leaders.
