STRATFORD Cricket Club have found themselves with serious financial problems following the severe flooding of their Swan’s Nest Lane ground in November and December of last year.
Torrential rain caused the adjacent River Avon to burst its banks, leaving the historic ground under water for several weeks, causing damage to the square, outfield, artificial nets and other equipment.
The financial implications are still being calculated and fundraising events planned but—without the help of generous donations and potential aid from the ECB—the Birmingham League club now faces an uphill battle to restore its ground and facilities.
As a result, the club have launched an appeal fund to help to raise an estimated £32,000 to cover the cost of the damage.
