Stratford RFC start 2013 in style

STRATFORD RFC began 2013 in style with a 35 points to 10 victory over Northwich at Pearcecroft on Saturday.

The result keeps them in sixth place in Midlands 1 West while Northwich's struggles near the foot of the table continue in their debut season in the league.

A try from skipper James Kennedy and two penalties from fly-half Simon Brain gave Stratford an 11-3 lead at half-time.

But a stirring second-half performance from the home side saw further tries from Brain, prop Simon Baldwyn, full-back Jo Cook and wing Dan Whitby seal a comfortable win before the Blacks scored a consolation try in stoppage-time.

For a full match report and reaction see Thursday's Stratford Herald.

Stratford (in white) kicked off 2013 in some style with a resounding 35-10 victory over Northwich.
