The playful pair were then handed over to the Mid-Warwickshire Cats Protection organisation which rescues and re-homes unwanted and abandoned cats.

Local volunteer Sandy Soinne took them home before they were sent to a cat fosterer in Leamington.

She said: “It’s absolutely appalling that someone would rather dump two innocent kittens out in the freezing cold instead of pick up the phone and call a local cat sanctuary.”

Thankfully the kittens have already won the love of a family in Stratford so will not be without a loving owner much longer.

There is a growing concern among the volunteers at the charity about cat owners’ lack of responsibility.

So much so that they have teamed up with Companion Care Vets inside Pets at Home, at the Maybird centre.

Any cat owners that wish to have their furry friends neutered can have it done for free any time in February at Companion Care Vets.

Meanwhile, Rumple, the horse rescued from an equine hell, who featured on our front page last week has proved a big hit with readers.

The phone at Redwings Horse Sanctuary, at Tysoe, where he now lives, never stopped ringing all weekend with people calling to adopt the beautiful stallion.
