Claverdon show title intention after top-of-the-table clash



CHAMPIONS Claverdon showed they will not give up their Stratford Alliance title without a fight after moving into second place in the Aquaid Division One table.
A 5-3 win at fellow title contenders Henley Forest of Arden pushed them level with leaders FC Wickhamford and with a game in hand, though just four points separate the top five teams.
Claverdon’s goals came from Neil Duffy, Henry Eddy, Barney Knight, Joseph Knight and Darren O’Brien, while Sam Churchley (2) and Tom Byrom were the Henley marksmen.
GSH United are the new leaders in Aquaid Division Two after defeating visitors Tysoe United 9-0 for a tenth win from ten matches.
With previous leaders AFC Stratford Town not playing, GSH  go top on goal difference.
Joe Shaw led the way with four goals, with Joe Frampton (2), Dan Sill and Mitchell Sutor also scoring.
Ryan Donnelly was another four-goal marksman, helping Inkberrow A to an 8-0 win at Blockley Sports, with Stuart Hall, Oli Wilkins, Sam Bentley and Alex Smith adding to the tally.
A hat-trick from Owen Clarke, plus further strikes from Michael Pearson and Matthew Tye, helped Shipston Excelsior Reserves to a 5-2 win at FISSC Reserves.
In the RM Smith Cup quarter-finals, FC Stratford HGC bowed out in a penalty shoot-out, losing 4-2 after a 1-1 draw. Harry Jones was on target for the hosts, with Dino De Angelis the Welford scorer.
Alex Bullock scored four times, with Harry Grant and Luke Knowles also on target, as Inkberrow Reserves defeated visitors South Redditch Athletic 6-2.
The winners now face a last-four clash at home to Bretforton Old Boys, who beat Alcester Town Reserves 3-2 having trailed 2-0 at half-time.
