BIKERS from the Royal British Legion (RBL), who raised money on a rainy Henley Street in Stratford, said they were “overwhelmed with the generosity of people.”

Terry Trigg, of the RBL Riders, was one of eight volunteers collecting money from passers-by.

He said: “We had some people who when they realised we were raising money to help ex-service personnel and their families, went to the nearest cashpoint and then put some money in the charity tin”.

Some of the RBL riders are ex-servicemen themselves and as Terry told the Herald: “This is a charity close to our hearts and we always support our armed forces whatever they ask us to do.

He added: “If the family of a fallen soldier asks us to provide a motorcycle escort we will be there for them.”
