Unholy row over dog signs in churchyard

ANTI-dog fouling signs in Holy Trinity Churchyard have created a right old stink among dog owners who have criticised them for being unfair and even unchristian in their wording.

The new signs read: “The Churchyard is consecrated ground. Please treat it with respect and do not exercise your dog within this precinct” and have been approved by Stratford Town Council which maintains the land.

A couple of concerned dog owners contacted the Herald this week to complain about the signs that have appeared recently.

One said: “I was surprised to see the new signs at the entrances to Holy Trinity Church, apart from the pomposity of the language used, the sign implies that dogs are running all over the graves. I walk my dog (on his lead) through the churchyard several times a day and treat it with the respect it deserves.”

“I walk my dog (on his lead) through the churchyard several times a day and treat it with the respect it deserves.” You might, but other’s don’t. That’s the point. The signs are directed toward irresponsible and thoughtless dog owners – of which there are many. If we want to talk about pomposity…

Why are people walking animals through a church yard? on a lead or not its not a place to relive animals. plenty of other places to walk them. Its common sense not to disrespect the dead!!!

Why have your voted-up your own post?

Because people like you get triggered by it for some reason.

Must be a Holy shock for Stratford’s dog owners – to discover that they are not a law unto themselves after all!
