The battle to retain Wellesbourne Airfield took another dramatic turn last week after a judge ruled that tenants on the site could appeal against a court ruling which had ordered them to leave.

Businesses at Wellesbourne Airfield are fighting to prevent the landowners, the Littler family, from demolishing buildings at the site and selling the land for the development of up to 1,500 homes.

The protracted court case came to a head earlier this year when a judge ruled that the tenants’ leases would not be extended as the landlord had a ‘reasonable prospect’ of gaining permission to demolish.

Had the tenants not decided to immediately appeal this verdict, they would have to had to leave the site by 15th October.

Last week however the storm clouds over the airfield lifted somewhat as businesses were informed that they had been granted the right to appeal against the judgement.
