Santa is appealing for somewhere to store his sleigh in Alcester this Christmas after being told it can no longer stay in a garage in the town.
The Santa Sleigh Run, organised by Alcester and Stratford District Round Table, raised £6,700 for local good causes last year, while the club’s pig roasting equipment, also stored at the garage, helped raise around £2,500.
The spectacular sleigh, rebuilt with new lighting last year, ran for 14 nights in Stratford, Alcester, Meon Vale and Welford last Christmas, but the club now find themselves in the difficult position of finding somewhere new to store it in the very near future.
Paul Jackson, media officer, said: “We have been renting a garage in Alcester, but we’ve been told the site is being sold and we’ve got to be out by 12th October.
“It doesn’t give us much time, we can store the bits of equipment separately at members’ homes for a couple of weeks, but we really need one spot where we can keep everything together in Alcester.
“We need maybe a garage or a business lockup ideally, but the main thing is it needs to be dry because the sleigh has electronics on it. Hopefully someone will offer us somewhere to use permanently, but even if it’s just temporary for a few months, it would really buy us some more time to sort something out.”
