THE launch of Warwickshire County Councillors’ Grant Fund for 2018/19 is now open for applications from voluntary and community groups across the county.
The Fund provides each of Warwickshire County Council’s 57 councillors with an allocated fund of £6,000 to support small-scale projects within their division and has been used in previous years to support a wide range of projects from updating community facilities to traffic management improvements on local roads.
Groups that have benefitted from the fund in the past have included community libraries, scouts, art groups, village halls, community shops, allotment societies, carer support groups and local foodbanks.
Any groups wishing to apply for Councillor Grant Funding can do so using the new online system and the deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday, 31st August 2018. The online application process is accessible here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfOmsR8HULKQKXcTVa6vGj6o3ZUYE6I62ZO6-_43GiTW9o90g/viewform
For advice on how to complete their application forms, Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (WCAVA) are holding a series of funding workshops to support groups or organisations considering applying to the Fund. These sessions will include providing guidance on: eligibility of projects, advice on completing a funding application, and signposting to other funding or support sources.
Stratford’s workshop is on: Monday, 18th June from 5-7pm at Stratford on Avon District Council Offices (Elizabeth House, Church Street, CV37 6HX) – click here to book.
Cllr Izzi Seccombe, Leader of Warwickshire County Council, said: “The Councillor grant is an opportunity for community groups to showcase projects and schemes to elected members and for us to make a contribution that will help them to make a difference in their local communities. I urge community groups to apply for this funding quickly in order to beat the rush.
“This is an important initiative, bringing much-needed money and investment into communities that have often complained at the overall lack of such investment. These are meaningful sums of money available in order to strengthen local communities and good causes. Councillors are keen to support as many local groups as possible.”
