The Union Bar in Stratford is set to close at the end of this week in yet another blow to the town’s nightlife.
A statement on the bar’s Facebook page explains that the venue has been unable to recover since regaining its licence last year.
The statement reads: “Sadly the time has come for the sun to set on Union Bar. Due to the unfortunate events of last year, we feel that the bar has been unable to recover since regaining our licence. It is with a heavy heart that that we have decided this will be the last week Union Bar will be opening its doors.
“It’s been a great three years and we have shared a lot of wonderful memories with you. Our staff will be relocated to our other venues while we look at how we can move forward. We have a fun week ahead, stay tuned for more updates.
“So come in and join us as we say goodbye, and lets see the Union Bar off with a bang.”
The Union Bar hit trouble last February when its licence was suspended for a month following a series of late night breaches involving customer noise, numbers and public safety violations.
