BROOM Swim School has been recognised at the prestigious Swim England National Awards.

The school, which is run by mother and daughter, Sally and Alice Walters, has been named the Swim England Swim School Member of 2017.

They have been presented with their award by former Olympic diver and commentator Leon Taylor, and current Olympic swimmer Ellie Faulkner.

Alice said: “We originally started in an outdoor pool in my grandparents’ back garden.

“My mum used to teach outdoors in the summer, and then in private pools in the winter.

“We then built a log cabin structure around the pool and we’re still going strong today.”

Jane Nickerson, Swim England CEO, said: “We have so many inspirational people involved at all levels of our sport and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to celebrate them at the Swim England National Awards.

“The awards are also about thanking those behind the scenes who continue to encourage us to do our best, particularly our family and friends.

“On behalf of everyone involved with swimming, I would like to congratulate Broom Swim School and all our finalists for their achievements.”
