Corder crowned champion as final meeting falls victim to weather

SPENCER Corder was crowned West Midlands under-12 cyclo cross champion on Saturday when the final meeting of the season fell victim to the weather.

The cancellation did not make any real difference though, as rules state the best seven rides of the ten-race series were to be taken into account, with the Stratford Cycling Club ace having won the previous nine rounds.

It was decided the best six races would be used, a decision which did not help everybody from the club.

In the under-eight girls’ section, Tamsin Moss, who won two races, while she also claimed a second and a third.

Ruben Stringfellow was fourth in the boys’ under-ten series.

Corder won the under-12 event, while his team-mate Lewis Tinsley took fourth.

Tinsley was followed by Alex Burden (8th), Josha Darlow (12th) and Samuel Abbott (18th).

In the under-12 girls’ section, Zoe Parker finished a great series in third place, having had a second and two third places. Clubmate Harriet Tinsley was seventh.

Jonathan Masters finished 15th in the tough under-16 section.

In the over 40 series, Philip Bromwich was 23rd and Ian Tinsley 31st.
