A MAN was arrested on suspicion of burgling a house, near Shipston-on-Stour, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, as well as driving whilst over the legal cannabis limit, yesterday (Sunday 17th September).

A Cherington resident called Warwickshire Police, shortly before 5pm yesterday, to report a man acting suspiciously in the village.

PC Craig Purcell, of Shipston Police Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “We attended and with help from the police dog, a male was located, who ran to a nearby Ford Focus.

“A pursuit of this vehicle then took place through Shipston and Wellesbourne, with assistance from the Operational Policing Unit (OPU) and a helicopter from NPAS Birmingham.”

The Ford Focus was stopped in Barford, when an officer deployed a stinger device to deflate all four tyres.

A house in Cherington was later found to have been burgled.

A 33-year-old man, from Nottingham, remains in custody in Leamington Spa today (Monday), as enquiries continue.
