Early tries set Stratford on way to victory

STRATFORD bounced back from their opening-day drubbing with a rousing and thrilling victory against Wantage-based Grove at Pearcecroft.

The Black and Whites had the perfect start to lead 10-0 after 15 minutes with two tries from Callum Cook before Jo Cook and Charlie Powell extended the lead to 24-5.

However. It was to prove to be a game of two halves as Grove battled back in the second period but Stratford held on for a confidence-boosting victory.

Next Saturday, Stratford visit Marlow.

Elsewhere, Alcester and Shipston both suffered defeats in their opening Midlands West Three (South) fixtures.

Alcester went down 31-15 at home to Woodrush while Shipston were edged out 27-23 at Coventry side Dunlop.

In Midlands West Four (South), Claverdon followed their Warwickshire Vase victory the previous week by cruising to a 42-20 win at home to Redditch.
