THE return of player-coach Craig Foisey and David Pritchard will provide extra know-how in Stratford’s ranks as they face Grove in their debut home match in the South West One East today (Saturday).
Fosiey and the long-serving Pritchard will both be available after missing last weekend’s opening-day 78-7 defeat at Chippenham through holidays.
The Black and Whites’ first match after their switch from Midlands One West proved to be a tough afternoon, conceding 12 tries to one from Dan Whitby.
Injuries added to the misery with fly-half Nick Taylor, and forwards Tom Mylott and Sam Joyce forced to leave the field. They have been assessed during training this week to decide whether they will be fit to face Wantage-based Grove at Pearcecroft.
“We have had a good pre-season so nobody expected last week’s scoreline,” said former captain Mark Hibberd, who is currently out injured.
“The league is going to be something new to everybody but we will adjust to it. Saturday is an opportunity to make amends after last week.”
Elsewhere, the lower RFU leagues also kick off this afternoon.
In Midlands Three West (South), Alcester entertain Woodrush while Shipston-on-Stour travel to Coventry side Dunlop.
Claverdon, bouyed by last week’s Warwickshire Vase win against holders Coventry Welsh, are at home to Redditch.
