Celebrity speaker Professor Michael Dougan is set to address a special event in Stratford tomorrow focusing on the impact Brexit will have on Britain.
The event, entitled ‘Leaving the EU- Reality Begins to Bite’, will take place at Stratford School and has been organised by Stratford4Europe, a local cross-party group campaigning for Britain to play a leading role within a strong and united European Union.
Professor Dougan racked up seven million hits on Facebook and Youtube last year with his lecture on the ‘industrial-scale dishonesty’ of the Leave campaign.
He is Professor of European Law and Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Law at the University of Liverpool.
Professor Dougan has provided written evidence to Parliamentary enquiries and appeared as an expert witness before the House of Commons European Scrutiny Committee and the House of Lords European Union Committee.
He has also acted as an external advisor to Government departments on important developments concerning the UK’s ongoing relationship with the EU.
Jonathan Baker, chair of Stratford4Europe, said: “We have scored a fantastic coup in getting Professor Dougan to come to speak in Stratford-upon-Avon’ as he is in huge demand all over the country.
“Recently in Bath the organisers were forced to crowd-fund to book a venue large enough for a sell-out audience of 850.
“What has made him such a great speaker is his unique ability to present in plain terms just the facts backed by evidence. The key question he will be addressing in Stratford will be, what impact is Brexit going to have on Britain and its future? Already we are anticipating a record audience with many people travelling considerable distances to hear Professor Dougan in person.”
Doors to the event will open at 6.30 pm for a 7.00 pm start. Admission is free but by ticket only.
Reserved Admission tickets need to be booked in advance from Eventbrite.
