ALCESTER Town saw off Coventrians in a penalty shootout to progress to the next round of the Challenge Vase at Stratford Road on Saturday.
The teams could not be separated after 120 minutes of action and the game had to be settled from the spot, with Danny Janes’ side edging it 3-2.
The game finished 3-3 after extra-time, with Alcester’s goals coming from Robbie Davies, Isaiah Graham-Clarke and Joe Shaw.
In the Coventry Telegraph Cup, FC Stratford bowed out following a 1-0 defeat to Whitnash at Acre Close.
Shipston Excelsior suffered only their second Midland League Division Three defeat of the season as they were beaten 3-1 at Northfield Town.
Joe Godson was on target for Shipston, but Northfield proved too strong on the day as the home side made it four wins on trot.
