Warwick narrowboat hire company Kate Boats was treated to lights, camera and action when ex-professional footballer Dion Dublin arrived to film a sequence of shots going up and down the canal on one of their fleet.

Dion, formerly of Stratford-upon-Avon but who now lives in Leamington, played for England and clubs including Manchester United, Coventry, and Aston Villa.

He arrived dressed in country tweed, including a red scarf and hat to mask his identity, for the hit BBC show.

Rebecca Howes, manager of Kate Boats, said: “It was great fun having the BBC cameras here and meeting Dion who was a very friendly guy.

“He was more than happy to get involved and said he really enjoyed his time navigating the boat on the canal and through the locks.”
